Yellow is a bright, pretty, optimistic color. But also a color of warning and emergency. One could come up with a thousand psychic messages in its pigment.
Today, enter into an actual reading in a behind-the-scenes view of what can happen when a color card appears in the center of your session. What’s happening in Derek’s mind? How does my client respond? I sat down for a meditation conversation with my spirit guide, Jakar, who coaxed many of the color’s infinite meanings out of me as we recapped a recent reading. Jakar: We’ve always noticed that psychic symbols are simple. From something so basic, how do you draw out a specific, meaningful message to help a client with a personal matter of concern? Derek: Well, first I think of one place where I imagine it showing up in nature. Jakar: And then, with that context in mind? Derek: It’s often pretty clear. Say the psychic symbol is a traffic light. We’re dealing with the color yellow which means slow down and prepare to stop as opposed to red or green meaning you must stop and now you can go. I had this in mind just now because I recently shared it with a client who went by his last name, Meyer. It was one of a variety of symbols that I laid out at the top of his session. Jakar: I appreciate that system we’ve developed, where, before our client shares their story, we’ve laid out symbolic tools much as a craftsman, golfer or dentist would. We can draw from one or another of them depending on each situation’s need. Derek: Yes. I do love the reveal, later in the reading, when an initially mysterious symbol suddenly fits so perfectly and paints a pathway. Meyer raised the subject of a problem he’s having about supply chain issues at his company. He needs a certain amount of this or that component to keep the machinery running and was anxious about the implications and length of the delays. Here’s his reading: Meyer, you’re talking about something like a production line, which I’d imagine should be humming along. The first thing I mentioned when we began was a yellow traffic light which indicates a slow-down. Meyer: That’s exactly what’s happening. I looked for color in the card presenting in Meyer's area of work and it was red. Oh dear. Well, that makes sense. After a light is yellow it turns red, right? Hmm. Seems inevitable. D: Meyer, I’m looking into where this is going. And I’m sorry. I think things are about to be brought to a halt. On the computer my client closed his eyes, drew a deep breath and let it out. M: Great. And how long do you see us enduring that? D: Hmm, you have a sunflower here in another of your cards. Do you see that? M: Yeah… D: In what month would you say you are most likely to see sunflowers? J: A clever technique, asking him to come up with the insight himself. D: You gave that one to me Jakar! M: Maybe August? September? D: Then that’s your answer. Now…we’re currently in May…so I’m wondering… His face has flashed disbelief, worry, frustration. M: That long! I don’t think I can survive that! J: What do you say when you find yourself conveying bad news? D: Oh, I immediately get onto damage control. I have to turn it around so I ask different questions, like, Which amongst these tools, as we call the symbols, suggests a way he can surmount this challenge and how? So I said, D: Now wait a minute! I have some good news. I actually didn’t have a clue what that good news was, but it had to be there because we believe most things are possible. My job is to find solutions. I knew I could justify this somehow so I looked. D: When you’re at a stop light, how long do you typically wait? M: Depends. A minute? Can be up to three I guess. Sometimes it feels interminable. D: If only we could get rid of traffic lights. I went to Vietnam once and they use rotaries way more than we do in the U.S. I think they’re marvelously efficient. Nobody stops. Everyone just keeps going. And what happens next? M: Then I can go. D: …And there’s a slow start til everyone gets back up to cruising speed. Meyer, in the scheme of things this is a relatively brief interruption. You’ll be back up and running in no time. Hey, wait a minute! Your name is Meyer like the lemon and here we are talking about yellow! I love lemons. I squeeze them over seltzers, grilled meats, salads… J: You made your point there and then abruptly shifted to a side note. Why? Two reasons: For possible further discovery, as it’s by walking around a symbol that you see its various facets. But more importantly, to shift the atmosphere and bond. M: Me too. We always have a bag on hand. D: Lemons have a long shelf life as fruits go, indicating longevity in your company. The sun is yellow, an eternal source of energy. This whole episode, with its just-stressful-enough lag, for you, will simply not stand. It’s going to spur you to make changes you wouldn’t have thought of, had things just kept comfortably humming along. You might look to diversify the business, seek other supply sources…The episode reveals a weakness. It’s like automobile or airline accidents over the last century. With every one, changes are made to create the solid safety we see today. M: I can see that. D: About that outsourcing or diversification where uh, you won’t have all your eggs in one basket: It might have to do with protection. I’m thinking of like protective gear, like raincoats or those florescent straps bicyclists wear to be seen? Or even insurance. J: Bravo! You got specific and planted a seed. M: You know what’s funny about all this? We’re in the transportation business. D: Ah Ha! J: I’m thinking of the color in action now… D: Oh! Hey, you’re lucky you didn’t get a single flashing yellow light. That would indicate proceed with caution with the situation just hanging there, eternally flashing! J: Alright, I must be off. I’m running the Northern Lights tonight. A hui hou! _______ More Psychic Thoughts on Meanings Behind Yellow Joy, and happiness: The lightest hue of the spectrum.
