I have a card in my Postcard Tarot deck that’s a photo of a handwritten menu from a restaurant in Tokyo. It lists all the dishes on offer and of course the prices in yen. When this card comes up in a reading, it symbolically says you have options, and not just two. That can mean a lot to someone who feels pigeonholed into choosing between this or that. The card might signify that two people who don’t speak the same language can communicate with one another well. It certainly brings up an east-west dynamic. I don’t have any cards from say, Korea in my deck so even though the card is in Japanese, symbolically speaking it can be a representative substitute. Sometimes a message in a card might not be derived from what the actual picture is, but what’s behind it. For example I took this picture on a business trip to Tokyo. Over seven years I made fourteen trips. So when this card recently came up in a reading, I asked my client, “You travel for business?” And she did. A lot of people have a home in Florida and another on Long Island or lead a bicoastal life, so from my own travels, I could lift the idea of routine back and forth. And let’s not forget this is a restaurant menu. A lot of people are in the hospitality field. And this place wasn’t that expensive, sort of along the price range of an Olive Garden. A client might be planning a venture they wonder if they can afford. Here is where I say, “The price is moderate.” Thank you for referring your friends, coworkers and family to me.
